How to Play Minecraft with Friends on a Server

One of the ways you can play Minecraft with friends is via a server. If you have your own server, you can use the IP or web address to connect to it via the Multiplayer menu and then by clicking the Add Server button. Another way to play together is over a local area network (LAN). This means that you and your friends need to be connected to the same network, like for instance your home Wifi.

To do this follow the next steps:

1. Everyone needs to be connected to the same network
2. One person needs to start a Single Player world or open an existing one
3. Then head into the game menu to Open To LAN. This will ask you what type of game you want.
4. Once you’ve made your selection, you can start your LAN world.
5. The rest of your friends can join via the Multiplayer menu. They should be able to see your Minecraft world automatically and log in.

These options are primarily for the PC versions of Minecraft. For consoles and mobile devices, you can join LAN games like with PC. For online, though, there are three dedicated servers to choose from in order to play Minecraft with friends.

You can split the work by going in different directions to find resources then pool them together to build up your shelter more efficiently.
